THE BIG APPLE

Over the past nine years, I’ve gone to New York at least 30 times for business. This month, I’m heading back to the city for my first non-work excursion. Stepping off the plane at LaGuardia with no meetings or editor coffees will be a shock to the system! Don’t get me wrong, I adore traveling for my job but often I find myself peering out of cabs at people walking in Central Park and just wanting to be that tourist. newyork

So what are five things on my to-do list for the trip:

#1: Momofuku Ko

The nearly impossible happened. My husband got a reservation at Momofuku Ko. For those who don’t know, the restaurant is one of the hardest to get into in the country. The reservation system alone is mind numbing and has tested the sanity of most food critics. Thankfully my husband’s fast typing on the computer and tenacity secured a coveted reservation. I can’t wait for this meal!

#2: The Three B’s – Bergdorf’s, Bendel’s and Barney’s

While two of the brands can be found in other cities, I simply cannot pass up shopping trips to three of the major shopping mecca’s in New York. Add in visits to TOPSHOP/TOPMAN, Kiehl’s, Ted Baker London, Scoop NYC, Opening Ceremony, New York Vintage among others and I am one happy shopper!

 #3: Waverly Inn

Drinks and dining await us at the Waverly Inn. What to wear?

#4: The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Prada

This may fall as #4 on the list but it takes the top spot. The Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibit explores the affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miucci Prada, two Italian designers from different eras. I’m looking forward to exploring the exhibit. Now all I need are my Met Gala tickets for next year (sigh).

#5: Once

Luck was on our side when we received special front row tickets to the 2012 Tony-award winning Best Musical “Once.” Based on the Academy Award-winning film, the show tells the story of an Irish musician and Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. I loved the movie and have a feeling the musical will be unforgettable!
