2013 Trend Prediction - Back to Beauty
The Spring 2013 runway shows featured some bold beauty trends from bright colors to crazy hair styles. It was fun to revisit some of these trends that were very popular when I was in my experimental stage, also known as middle school (crimped hair, blue eyeshadow). With so many new looks to try next year, I’ve narrowed down the trends and picked out my top four predictions for next year’s biggest hits.
THE HAIR
Crimped Waves. Hollywood blowouts are looking tired, so I predict ladies will run with the crimped wave trend. To avoid a 80s hair-band comparison, space those horizontal waves farther apart with a triple-barrel iron or sleep with hair in a French braid. No need to pull out the old crimper for this look. Thakoon created a chic look to try and Allure got a backstage pass on how-to create the style.
THE LIPS
Bright & Matte. One of the major trends for next year is wearing a pop of bright matte color on the lips. I predict people will embrace this easy trend in shades of poppy red, neon fuchsia and coral. The style looks best with almost bare eyes and cheeks, keeping all the focus on the pout.
THE EYES
Blue is the new black. Crayola-bright lids were seen all over the spring runways from eyeliner to eyeshadow to mascara in all shades of BLUE. Navy, aqua, cobalt and sky blue are the new hues to use for a smoky eye or soft shadow. Celebrities are already embracing this trend and Instyle has a great how-to article to teach you too.
THE NAILS
White Out! Remember the days when you would apply Wite-Out as nail polish when you were bored in second period? Well the trend is returning, except in a much more sophisticated way. To avoid the correction pen look, choose modern opaque shades like alabaster or egg white with a shiny finish. Experts say to keep your nails shorter with a slightly rounded shape to pull off the trend correctly.
