AROUND TOWN: Summer in Chicago

The season we have finally been waiting for, and why we put up with Chiberia, is here! Whether you’re a sports lover, food fanatic or music aficionado, see below for some fun events to mark on your calendar for the summer. Enjoy!

Music Festivals
Check out Pitchfork Music Festival to see headliners LCD Soundsystem, Solange and A Tribe Called Quest at Union Park in the West Loop from Friday, July 14 – Sunday, July 16, or head to Lollapalooza from August 3-6 in Grant Park to see Chicago native Chance the Rapper, The Killers, Muse, Arcade Fire, Wiz Khalifa and more.

Food & Wine Events
If you’re a vino lover, grab your friends and head to Summer Sippers Wine Festival at Eataly in River North (buy your tickets at Gilt City Chicago). The Taste of Chicago is always great for free admission and tasty bites, and Chicago Gourmet, presented by Bon Appetit, is an awesome opportunity to try offerings from the country’s high-tier chefs.

Fourth of July Fireworks or Boat Cruises
Navy Pier leads off the Independent Day fireworks, where you can watch them at the pier, Millennium Park, or lakefront. Enjoy the water with Spirit Cruises 4th of July Fireworks Dinner on Tuesday, July 4, featuring a 3-hour cruise with incredible views of Navy Pier’s fireworks, as well as a three-course dinner, platinum open bar, patriotic décor, DJ, dance floor and games. Book it here.

Baseball Games
For a spontaneous weekend afternoon or weeknight, take yourself out to the ball game to Wrigley Field or Guaranteed Rate to see the 2016 World Series Champions or their cross-town rivals. Can you tell who I root for? J What’s better than America’s pastime, a cold beer and a hotdog?
