ZAP Bites: New Year, New You!
Each year, people across the world vow to start this the new year better than the last. They vow to get organized, save money, travel more, fall in love, spend more time with family, and the most popular, lose weight and get fit. And each year, approximately 8% of people are successful in achieving their resolution.
So for those of you who set that ever-popular resolution of getting fit or losing weight and want to increase that 8% statistic, I’ve round up my favorite healthy food blogs that’ll make reaching your goals that much easier, and taste that much better!
Skinny Taste Skinny Taste is one of my favorite food blogs. Gina Homolka believes that when you cook your own meals, you can feel good about what is going into your body. Her blog teaches readers how to prepare delicious, light, fresh meals your whole family will love, and won’t even realize it’s good for them!
My personal favorites are: Spinach, Feta & Artichoke Breakfast Bake (pictured above), Cilantro-Lime Shrimp, Greek Turkey Meatballs, and Turkey, Sausage, Kale & White Bean Soup.
PaleOMG I know what you’re thinking – I am not doing Paleo! But Juli’s blog is a great resource for healthy, delicious meals, that just happen to be paleo. Plus, her attitude is pretty fantastic – “If you are easily offended, you will probably hate my blog posts,” says Juli. “I am unapologetic, quite frank, and a bit obscene at times, but that is who I am and how I cook. I’m messy, to say the least. So please do not email me asking me to stop cursing. My mother did that my whole life and it never worked. Meaning, I will not change for you. All I really want out of this blog is to make you laugh and inspire you to eat something delicious and become more confident with yourself. If you don’t cook, then stop looking at food blogs while sitting at your desk at work. Go to the grocery store, buy fresh food and cook it.”
My personal favorites are: Slow Cooker Jalapeno Popper Chili, Turkey & Spinach Stuffed Sweet Potatoes (pictured above), and Moroccan Lamb Tagine.
Sprouted Kitchen Not only does Sprouted Kitchen have delicious recipes but also beautiful food photography. The husband and wife team aim to prove that eating seasonally will change your take on everyday cooking. They focus on making food taste good by using natural ingredients: whole grains, healthy fats and natural sugar alternatives and more.
My personal favorites are: Slow Cooked Eggs, Curried Yellow Split Pea Soup, and Kale & Slivered Brussels Sprouts with Soba Noodles (pictured above).
P.S. If you are in the bookstore, all three of these blogs also have cookbooks!
